Abstract : The current study is designed to prepare and measure The Effectiveness of an Educational Unit to develop knowledge and skills of the students studying in the Department of Clothing and Textile in the implementation of some sewing techniques using home embroidery machine. The problem of research lies in the difficulties faced by students in implementation of some sewing techniques with highly accurate, and re-implement the same technique with the same measurements and forms without differences between the implemented samples of one technique, such as what you see in ready-made clothes. The research sample consisted of a number of students studying in the Department of Clothing and Textiles, Faculty of Home Economics, King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah. The current research adopted experimental approach for designing an educational unit using embroidery machine in the implementation of sewing techniques. Considering the nature of this research, experimental approach "pre-post design" type was chosen using a single group. The research tools included also the proposed educational unit, cognitive and skill test (pre / post) to measure knowledge and skills contained in the educational unit. In addition to an observation card for the first lesson of the unit, and rating scale to evaluate the students' skill performance. The results of the study revealed that there was a statistical significance at the level of significance (0.05) between scores mean of students in the cognitive tests as a whole before and after the application of the unit in the favor of post-test. statistical significance at the level of significance (0.05) between scores mean of students in the skills tests as a whole before and after the application of the unit in the favor of post-test; demonstrating the effectiveness of the proposed educational unit subject of this research. The researcher recommended utilization of the educational unit and its tools in creating similar units with new sewing techniques. Pay attention in updating knowledge and skills required by the two courses of Machine Embroidery, Cutting and Sewing Techniques in keeping with with today's requirements and variables.
